Case Study Videos for TaxCalc

From Exeter to Rochdale: real customers, real stories, filmed with ease

What they wanted

TaxCalc wanted to hear from the people who use their products every day. Andy North, their Chief Creative Officer, needed a lean, flexible crew who could travel across the UK and film accountancy practices talking about their experiences with TaxCalc and Engager. The brief needed more than a camera and a tripod. Each video had to look polished and professional. It also had to feel natural, because the people on screen were busy accountants, not presenters. And the footage needed to work hard beyond the main edits, giving TaxCalc a steady supply of social content for LinkedIn.

What we did

We put together a small, mobile team that could turn up, set up and get filming quickly without taking over a client’s office. We filmed at six locations, from Exeter in the south to Rochdale in the north, capturing each customer in their own workspace. A big part of the job was helping people relax. Most of the contributors had never been filmed before, so we took time to chat and walk them through the process. We kept the atmosphere calm, which let their answers come across as honest conversation rather than rehearsed lines. We took the same approach with the B-roll, so people went about their day naturally while we filmed around them. Alongside the talking heads, we captured B-roll and drone footage to give each story a sense of place. In the edit, we shaped the interviews into six polished testimonial films. We also cut shorter, punchier versions made for LinkedIn feeds.

How it went

TaxCalc came away with six authentic customer stories from across the UK, plus ready-made social cuts to keep their LinkedIn channels busy. Having one small crew handle every location kept the look and feel consistent, so the whole series works as a set.
Adam and Jimmy made this a breeze as always. They were efficient, personable, and professional, which is always paramount when filming at a client’s offices, as they need minimal disruption and a positive experience. I’d highly recommend them for this type of project!
